Just Because came about in 2016 when I moved into a little 18th century cottage on a pond, disconnected my internet and cable as an act of self-care and gave myself the gift of a “real” camera.
After three decades of working in the non-profit world, I set out to learn how to balance pursuing a life of justice and making a difference in the world with taking time to just be. Capturing my surroundings through the lens of the camera required that I slow down. This stillness led to a whole new world of discovery, wonder, laughter, and joy… which is what I want to share with you.
My first furry friend, Pearl, was a perpetually curious, intuitive, wild chipmunk with a winsome demeanor, a willingness to pose for the camera and a love of peanuts. Life changes have brought about a few moves and although I miss Pearl, I have met new chipmunk (and squirrel) friends along the way, including Ruby, Opal, Onyx, and the “Munks of Meadow View” , all of whom can be seen on my Instagram page.
The Freedom Dancer cards were painted for me by Freiman Stoltzfus, an amazing friend and artist from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He has graciously given me permission to incorporate them into Just Because and like anything we sell, 50% of the profit will support non-profits working to make our world a better place for all.
